HubPages

HubPages is a revenue sharing site that offers you the opportunity to create mini web pages. You select a topic (topics) of your choice and create content “capsules”. Fill the content capsules with the media you desire. You can includ text, photos, videos and links.

Hubs are rated with the top score being 100. The rating is determined by traffic, unique content, viewer ratings and quality. You retain all rights to your work.

With HubPages your earnings come from revenue generated from affiliate accounts. These may include *eBay, Amazon, Kontera* and Google. HubPages pays you 60% of the impressions generated from these sources. If an actual purchase is made ie someone clicks through your hub and buys an item from Amazon or eBay for example, you keep 100% of the affiliate revenue. Hub also pays for referrals in two ways. If you send traffic to another Hub you receive a percent of total impressions 9% -12% depending on if they have an affiliate or not. Hub also pays for new writer referrals. * Note: Kontera pays out at a $100 minimum so if your Hubs do not generate traffic, it is unlikely you will see pay out. *eBay has tightened their standards making it more difficult to get an account with them.

Because your earnings from HubPages is determined by affiliate relationships, you must set up an account with each of the affiliates on your own and enter the information in your account settings at HubPages. Hub gives you step by step directions on how to sign up for these affiliate relations in their FAQ’s.

HubPages also offers a Flagship Hub program for the best Hubbers. A $25 payment is given for a Hub that is written on an approved topic and meets the standards set. Bonuses are also given.

Making a Hub is fun and easy. I recently created my first Hub, “How to Lose Weight Fast and Easy with Fat Loss 4 Idiots.” Using the modules, I created text and added a photo. A slideshow option is also available if you have 5 photos or more. Hubpages automatically added the Adsense. It gave me the option to include Kontera advertising. On the side there are boxes to add eBay and Amazon. I opted to add the Amazon box. I selected products from Amazon that I felt fit well with the hub. But if desired it can be done automatically.

Earnings from HubPages will vary according to Hub. Some writers seem to do well and others find the earnings mediocre. But one nice thing about HubPages is you can get backlinks to your other websites and potentially pick up earnings.

Just a note, I have two Hubpages accounts (which is allowed) and have written most of my Hubs for the other account.

Pay per click seems to have significantly changed in the last couple of weeks. If you perform a search for“ service” “ location” e. g. “ car hire London” and then after a couple of different combinations go back to a generic search such as“ service” e. g. “ van hire” you will see that the location entered before sticks with you. Works better with specific locations (rather than generic London) so you can have fun drilling down.

Google periodically also changes how highly they rate certain sites. Squidoo for example, was downrated so naturally this hurts where the articles appear in the ranking.
