I picked a topic I am passionate about and it will be nice for driving traffic to my website and potentially generating sales on it’s own.

I had looked at Squidoo before but with all the different modules and information it looked like a lot of time would be involved and I was not sure if anyone was making any money with Squidoo. Then I learned about Jennifer Lebetter’s success with it. Jennifer also known as PotPieGirl made $154,819.96 last year from her marketing efforts on line. It is not clear how much of it came directly from sales at Squidoo, but it does seem clear that she drives a lot of traffic to her other online marketing efforts using Squidoo. Squidoo can be used to drive traffic to your blog or business and/or to make some pocket change and potentially more if you really focus on it.

Jennifer has written an extensive ebook called One Week Marketing where she explains step by step how she creates a selects a topic, picks key words, and creates a Squidoo lens. She shares exactly what to do so that you can optimize your lens for the search engines and drive traffic to your lens. With her book you learn the hot spots on a lens, what you absolutely should not do, how to select a great niche, picking key words and more. Essentially the book is a HUGE time save and can potentially help you catch high Google placement and keep it.

WriterGig’s excellent eHow book saved me tons of time and a huge learning curve. Jennifer’s One Week Marketing book is like that. You will save hours of time and be able to monetize your Squidoo lens because you will know what niche to select, keywords to choose and how to use these effectively. Jennifer walks you through step by step exactly what you need to do to get a great marketing plan in place using Squidoo. You follow steps each day so within a few days you have a very smart marketing plan in place that can potentially bring in income for years.

Squidoo can be monetized a number of ways; with affiliate links, ebay, Amazon and more. You can also use it to drive traffic to your other sites. Just adding one or two Squidoo lenses a week can result in huge earnings over time.

UPDATE:  Both of my lenses were locked a couple days after making them. Apparently Squidoo has new rules regarding affiliate links etc. Many lenses are getting shut down or locked to be reviewed.

I got an email from Squidoo that my lenses had been unlocked. I would recommend using Squidoo to drive traffic to your sites and use the affiliate modules they provide to monetize them. If you opt to use your own affiliate links make sure the ones you are using are allowed by Squidoo (my affiliate links were allowed.)
