Here is my third interview with other writers. This one is with Salma Dinani Dewji, who writes on her site, The Write Balance. On her site she writes about food, being a mom, health, fashion and just about anything else you can think of. I hope you enjoy this interview.
Q) What made you get into writing?
Salma: I’ve loved writing since elementary school and I pursued it in University. It seemed like the natural thing to make it part of my career path.
Q) What is your favorite topic to write about?
Salma: I’m a feature writer and love writing about anything under that umbrella whether it’s fashion, food, health, parenting, fitness, culture…the list is endless.
Q) What hours of the day do you do most of your writing?
Salma: Afternoons and at night.
Q) Please share one or two tricks you use to stay motivated and productive.
Salma: I make lists of the things that need to be done to make sure I stay on task and on time and when each item is done, I get great satisfaction from crossing it off the list.
Q) How long did it take for you to get to the point where you were making your ‘goal amount’ with writing?
Salma: I recently changed my career path from writing and production for television to freelance writing, so I have not reached my goal amount as of yet.
Q) Do you do any writing besides freelance?
Salma: Aside from freelance writing, I write on my on site which is www.TheWriteBalance.ca
Q) Is writing your only source of income, or do you also work in a ‘traditional’ job?
Salma: I recently left my traditional job so right now, this is my only source of income along with some television freelancing as well.
Q) What is your favorite part about being a writer?
Salma: I love the creativity involved with being a writer. I enjoy the fact that writing is making something out of nothing. I love the research and often learning so much about a subject that I previously may not have know.
Thank you Salma for taking the time to fill out this interview, and sharing a little about yourself with other writers.
